Private-beta terms
Terms of Use
These terms govern the EV ChitChat website, account experience, private beta, and EV ChitChat Alexa Custom Skill operated by BuildingRome LLC. By using the service, you agree to these terms.
Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18, able to form a binding agreement, and authorized to use the Amazon, Google, Tesla, Alexa, and vehicle accounts you connect. You may connect only a vehicle you own or are expressly authorized to access. You are responsible for activity through your account and for keeping your devices and third-party accounts secure.
The service
EV ChitChat lets an authorized user ask for limited vehicle status and request cabin climate actions through Alexa. The beta supports vehicle-status requests: battery, range, charging state and charge limit, plug and lock state, cabin temperature, climate state, tire pressure, software-update availability, and odometer. For accounts with a paired virtual key it also supports starting and stopping cabin climate, maximum defrost, and switching the charge limit between a road-trip (full) and standard preset. Commands may be limited, disabled, or changed during the beta, and other features are not promised.
Vehicle safety and responsible use
- Do not use EV ChitChat for emergencies, safety-critical decisions, or situations requiring immediate confirmation.
- Keep the vehicle parked in a safe, ventilated location before requesting climate actions, and never rely on them for people or pets in the car.
- Verify important vehicle state in the official Tesla application or at the vehicle.
- Voice recognition, networks, Alexa, Tesla, and the vehicle can delay, reject, duplicate, or ambiguously report a request.
- Stop using the service and disconnect it if you suspect unauthorized access.
EV ChitChat deliberately excludes unlock, remote start, trunk or frunk, window, location, horn, and arbitrary vehicle commands. No command that moves or unsecures the vehicle is planned. BuildingRome LLC may further restrict or disable any command at any time.
Third-party services and permissions
EV ChitChat depends on Amazon Alexa, Google Firebase, Tesla's official Fleet API, Google Cloud, Vercel, internet connectivity, vehicle software, regional availability, and permissions you grant. Your use of each third-party service remains subject to its terms and privacy policy. EV ChitChat cannot control or guarantee those services.
You may revoke Tesla authorization, disable the Alexa skill, or disconnect the integration. Revocation can make some or all features unavailable.
Alexa account linking asks you to sign in with Google inside the Alexa app. Link only your own Google account, and only from your own Alexa app. If the one-time code fallback is offered, approve a code only when you initiated linking yourself, and do not share it with another person.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Access or attempt to control a vehicle or account without authorization.
- Share credentials or tokens, bypass account linking, defeat rate limits, or circumvent command and safety controls.
- Probe, disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or misuse the service except where applicable law expressly permits.
- Use the service for stalking, surveillance, harassment, unlawful activity, or to endanger any person or property.
- Represent EV ChitChat as an official Tesla or Amazon product.
Beta availability and changes
Access to the EV ChitChat Alexa skill during the private beta is invitation-only. Beta access may be limited to designated accounts or vehicles, and may end without notice. We may change features, permissions, limits, architecture, or these terms. We may suspend access to protect users, vehicles, infrastructure, third parties, or legal compliance.
Fees and in-skill purchases
EV ChitChat offers an optional EV ChitChat Plus subscription through Amazon's In-Skill Purchasing program. Climate commands (cabin climate start and stop, maximum defrost, and charge-limit presets) are gated on an active subscription. All billing, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and tax are handled by Amazon under Amazon's terms; EV ChitChat does not process or store payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Alexa app. Pricing is displayed by Amazon before any purchase.
Tesla, internet, mobile, electricity, or other providers may impose their own charges independent of EV ChitChat.
Privacy and security
Our Privacy Policy explains the information involved in the service. Our Security Overviewexplains current and planned safeguards. You agree not to submit data the service does not request, including passwords, payment information, precise location, or sensitive personal information.
Independent product and intellectual property
EV ChitChat is independent software and is not sponsored, endorsed, or operated by Tesla, Inc. or Amazon.com, Inc. Tesla, Alexa, Amazon, Google, Firebase, Vercel, and related marks belong to their respective owners. BuildingRome LLC retains its rights in EV ChitChat software, design, documentation, and branding.
Feedback
If you provide product feedback, you allow BuildingRome LLC to use it to improve EV ChitChat without payment or confidentiality obligations. Do not include credentials, vehicle identifiers, or other sensitive data in feedback.
Disclaimers and assumption of risk
To the maximum extent permitted by law, EV ChitChat is provided "as is" and "as available," with all faults and without warranties of any kind, express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, accuracy, timeliness, vehicle compatibility, or command completion. We make no guarantee that a spoken request will be understood, delivered, executed, or reported correctly, and no statement on this website, in the skill, or in any communication creates a warranty.
You use EV ChitChat entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for your vehicle, your accounts, and every decision you make with or without information from the service. If you are not willing to accept that risk, do not use the service. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BuildingRome LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost data, lost profits, loss of use, or damage caused by third-party services, connectivity, unauthorized use, or reliance on an unconfirmed command. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of BuildingRome LLC for all claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which for the free private beta is zero. Your sole and exclusive remedy for any dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it and disconnect it. Rights and remedies that cannot legally be limited remain unaffected.
Ending use
You may stop using EV ChitChat, disable the skill, revoke Tesla access, and request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access for safety, abuse, security, legal, platform, or operational reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
